We are operating three kinds of earth observing satellites. We can aquire real-time information on sea surface temperature around the Korean Waters from the NOAA(National oceanographic & Atmospheric Administration) satellite series, ocean color such as phytoplankton distributions around the Korean Waters from the SeaWiFS(Sea viewing Wide Field of view Sensor) satellite and sea surface temperature around the entire western Pacific Ocean from the GMS-5(Geostationary Meteorological Satellite). The ocean satellite information which is related to the water thermal front, SST, chlorophyll-a, and others is distributed through the website of the Korea Oceanographic Data Center(KODC), the public PC communication network(HiTEL) and a Fax system on a daily base. Even users who are working on fishery vessels can aquire that type of satellite information using the weather fax system which is being operated by the Korean Meteorological Agency.
